Ski for the Duke

February 1st, 2019

Blue Mountain, Ontario

Ski for the Duke is a one day, outdoor fundraising event for teams of skiers and snowboarders. Teams gather for a day of on-the-slopes challenges, great food, entertainment, and lots of swag!

Teams are made up of three members who will work together to raise funds for the Duke of Ed and complete the ski day’s challenges together. The funds raised from this event will go towards supporting youth across the province and ensure that the Duke of Ed remains barrier-free for everyone.

The ski day starts off with a hearty hot breakfast and an introduction by the day’s host, Jeff MacInnis , a former member of the Canadian National Ski Team. The teams then hit the slopes to complete the Mountain Challenge Scavenger Hunt. The scavenger hunt requires teams to take selfies at various locations across Blue Mountain.

Teams meet back at the club house for a delicious lunch and a tallying of the scavenger hunt totals. The afternoon consists of timed Giant Slalom runs or time to freely ski the slopes of Blue Mountain.

The Après-ski begins at 3pm and the winners of the day are announced! Prizes are awarded for the top fundraising teams, the winners of the morning’s Scavenger Hunt, the fastest Giant Slalom runs, and the top overall teams (fundraising and Scavenger Hunt results combined).

Ski for the Duke assists young people who face a financial challenge participating and completing an Award. All monies raised at Ski for the Duke offset registration fees, training and expedition expenses.
